The beginnings of our website is now live.. hoping to add more pages once the craziness of Christmas has passed! Can’t wait to tell you more about the farm and the journey we are on.
#newbeginnings #highwelfarefarming #happycows
New starts on the farm this week. Nelly our new puppy meeting the cows for first time. But more importantly new people starting work, and the first steps to getting cows milking again!
We have had a new calf! first since March. Born under an oak tree, so called Acorn. All the heifers aunties very interested, mum not so much.
The dry weather has made most of grasses head. So I can play my game of how many types of grass in a field ( normal getting small children involved but only me today). Think 8 here, plus birds foot trefoil, self heal, lady's bedstraw and clover. Youn

Still enjoying spring on the farm, here are next weeks photos. Heifers basking in sun, fawn hiding in grass, swallow sitting on her nest, no now may in garden. #NFFweek2025
Next 7 pictures from May. Loving the hedges, hawthorn in flower. Heifers are loving eating them too. Digging in dung pats for dung beetles. Swallows on farm but seem less then normal this year. Hope pictures of nests next week.
Farm photo for each day of May:
Enjoying spring on the farm! 🌱
Finding it hard selling the diary herd and all staff leaving the farm. But a new calf always bring me joy. Looking forward to spring and summer, which will hopefully bring a new herd of milking cows and new people on to the farm.
Cows being sold at Market Dryaton today, so thought would be nice to see some of them grazing in the summer.
Spiders really have everything covered on this field. Love the early morning on an clear autumn day.
Been rather a wet week, think about 130mm rain so far. 40mm in thunder storm on Friday, then a wet day TB testing with 46mm on Monday. Got wet again today moving fences for heifers, but the aftermath of the rain does make a nice picture.

Looking at our flood meadows today. After such a hard time they had over winter, please to see how they are doing. It is mixed bag, some areas better than others, the wetter areas are quite bare but look closer to see seedlings. Maybe not so much hay
