News from the Dairy

We have had some busy winter months getting prepared for the spring. With the farm not bring worked for almost a year, there was plenty to do. We sorted the sheds and got the parlour cleaned, painted and fixed. We said hello to our herd of cows who joined us in December and enjoyed seeing them explore their new home. Now we are full into the calving season and it's a real delight to see the calves skipping about or dozing in the sunshine. Hopefully next calving season we can take joy out of seeing mum's and calves together when we go to fully "calf at foot".

We do have one old lady who joined us this winter who refused to lie in the cubicles and instead of that becoming a problem, we let her be a nanny cow for her own calf and a premature calf. They now enjoy life together in their own stable block.
